Three useful and portable baby items to order from abroad to Kathmandu

In the rare opportunity that we do have friends or family coming to Kathmandu from abroad, we often wonder what the most appropriate thing might be to ask them to get.

Following is a list of useful, portable items they could bring

  1. Prenatal multivitamins – Nature Made brand
  2. Nose Frida
  3. Goodnight Moon book

1. Prenatal multivitamins – Nature Made brand

There is a range of multivitamins that one should start when you are trying to conceive since taking prenatal vitamins is recommended 3 months prior to getting pregnant. While there are an array of brands available abroad, Nepal has just a couple of prenatal vitamin brands and they often run out of stock. Doctors in Kathmandu usually prescribe separate vitamins for Iron, Folic Acid, Calcium, etc.

The prenatal vitamin that you do get in Nepal is the TRQ Brand and it is available for order via e-pharmacy.

2. Nose Frida

The Nose Frida very efficiently takes out snot when the baby has a cold. Using a nasal saline solution prior to using the Nose Frida is more effective and I found it more useful than the nasal bulbs available in the market in Kathmandu.

3. Goodnight Moon book

Goodnight Moon has been a classic book for babies and toddlers and rightfully so. The book has rhymes that just flow of the tongue and calms the child for naptime or bedtime. At just $5 Goodnight Moon is a book that you can read over and over again and since it’s a board book your baby can’t easily wear it down.
